|Wang Zhigang: Secretary of the CPC Leading Group and Vice Minister, MOST|
Mr. Wang Zhigang is a member of the Communist Party of China and a member of the 16th and 17th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. As a senior engineer, he receives the State Council special allowance. In January 1976, he was sent to work in Changshan Commune, Chuzhou, Anhui Province as an educated youth. From October 1978 to July 1982, he studied informatics at Northwest Institute of Telecommunications Engineering. From July 1982 to October 1996, he worked in the 28th Research Institute of the former Ministry of Electronic Industry as Deputy Director of the Research Department, Deputy Chief Engineer and then Deputy Director-General of the Institute. From October 1996 to February 1999, he served as General Manager and CPC Committee member of China National Computer Software and Technology Service Corporation. From February 1999 to February 2002, he was Deputy Director-General and member of the CPC Leading Group of the Institute of Electronics of the former Ministry of Information Industry. He served as Deputy General Manager and member of the CPC Leading Group of China Electronic Technology Group Corporation from March 2002 to September 2003. Between September 2003 and October 2008, he was General Manager and Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of China Electronic Technology Group Corporation. From October 2008 to April 2011, he was General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of the Corporation. He was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the CPC Leading Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology in April 2011. He has been Secretary of the CPC Leading Group since July 2012.
Vice Minister Wang is in charge of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry and oversees the Department of Policy, Regulations and Reform (Office for Innovation System) and the Department of Personnel.
