|Huang Wei: Leading Party Group Member and Vice Minister, MOST|
Huang Wei is a member of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. From September 1978 to August 1982, he studied at Nanjing Institute of Technology. After graduation, he went to work and study at Engineering Institute of Engineering Corps of the PLA, Nanjing Institute of Technology and Southeast University (September 1983 - January 1986: a master candidate at Nanjing Institute of Technology; May 1993 ¨C February 1994: a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley; September 1991 ¨C May 1995: on-the-job Master candidate, receiving a doctor degree in engineering). From May 1998 to August 2001, he served as Vice President and Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Southeast University. In August 2001, he was appointed as the Director-General and Secretary of Leading Party Group of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Construction. In February 2003, he was appointed as Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province. In August 2003, he started to work as Vice Minister and Member of the Leading Party Group of the Ministry of Construction. In November 2008, he took office as Deputy Mayor of Beijing Municipality. In December 2010, he assumed responsibility as Member of the CPC Standing Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In September 2016, he was appointed as Member of the Leading Party Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has been Vice Minister and Member of the Leading Party Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology since November 2016.
Vice Minister HuangĄ¯s portfolio includes allocation and management of science and technology resources, basic research, and science and technology awards. He oversees the Department of Resource Allocation and Management, the Department of Basic Research and the National Office for Science & Technology Awards.
