Miao Shaobo is a member of the Communist Party of China and holds a masterí»s degree in law. From September 1981 to July 1985, he majored in automation of building materials industry at Shandong Institute of Building Materials (SIBM). Upon graduation, he started working for the institute, first as Secretary of the Communist Youth League (CYL) in the Department of Automation and then as Assistant to the Dean of the Department of Automation. From September 1988 to July 1991, he studied for a Masterí»s degree at the Department of Sociology of Renmin University of China. From July 1991 to July 1995, he served as Deputy Secretary and then Secretary of the CYL Committee of SIBM. From July 1995 to July 2005, he served in a succession of roles at the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, including Director of the Investigation Division of the Sixth Bureau, and Director-level Secretary and DDG-level Secretary of the General office. In July 2005, he was appointed as DG-level Secretary of the General Office of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee. In December 2008, he was appointed as DG-level Secretary of the General Office of the State Council. In December 2014, he was appointed as Director-General of Personnel of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). In September 2016, he was appointed Deputy Secretary-General,MOST.Since August 2017, he has been Deputy Secretary-General,MOST.
Deputy Secretary-General Miao is responsible for assisting ministerial officials of MOST in relevant work.
