Vice President of the Central Committee of
Public Interest Party of China, Academician of the Chinese Academy
of Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Third
World, delegate to the 8th Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative
Conference, and Member of the Standing Committee of the 9th and
10th Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference. Mr. Cheng
graduated from the Southwestern University of the US with a PhD
degree in organic chemistry. In 1987 he served successively as
Associate Professor and Professor in the Chemistry School of Nankai
University, Director of the Physical Organic Chemistry Laboratory
of Nankai University; doctorate adviser; Vice President of Nankai
University, Deputy Director and Director of Tianjin Municipal
Committee of Public Interest Party of China; Member of the Standing
Central Committee of Public Interest Party of China; Vice President
of Tianjin Political Consultative Conference. Since April 2000,
Mr. CHENG has been serving as Vice Minister of Science and Technology.
