On September 8, the fist China-made 8,530-TEU container ship, of which China owns the full intellectual property rights, was delivered to China Shipping Container Lines Co.Ltd. in Shanghai after a successful sea trial.

The ship, named “New Asia”, is the first of five container ships of the same type to be designed and built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co.Ltd. for the China Shipping Container Lines Co.,Ltd. Technological development for “New Asia” was supported by the National Key Technologies R&D Programme for the 10th Five Year Period.
