The Department of Basic Research of MOST held a feasibility study meeting on the State Key Lab of Cryoshpere Science in Lanzhou, Gansu Province.

The expert panel unanimously agreed with the construction plan of the Lab and suggested early implementation after improvement. They also advised that the Lab could continue attracting scientists from home and abroad in multidisciplinary cooperative research with a view to delivering more major integrative innovation.

The State Key Lab of Cryosphere Science is one of the 27 State Key Labs approved by MOST in 2007. The research is centered on scientific frontier issues including developing process and mechanism of the cryosphere as well as its interaction with other layers.
