The Congress of African Scientists and Policy Makers organized by African Union was recently held in Alexandria, Egypt. 150 scholars, scientists and officials from 44 African countries attended the conference. Professor Yaye Kene, Chairperson of African Ministers Conference for Science and Technology and Professor Nagia Essayed, Director of Department of Human Resources and Science and Technology made keynote speeches on the conference. Participants have had in-depth discussion on Africa’s S&T policies, current S&T development and prospects, S&T development plans and problems in current work.

Chinese delegation was especially invited for the conference. Mr LI Pu, Deputy Director–General of Department of Policies, Regulation and Reform, MOST and Dr TANG Yuli attended the conference and made reports about China’s S&T development.
