The major software project on “Kernel of Server Operating System” under the 863 Program has led to the staging of KYLIN operating system. The system is the most secure of its kind ever certified in China. It was initiated by the National University of Defense Technology.

The system passed expert acceptance check organized by the Office of Information Technology under the 863 Program on December 4, 2006. The research scored outstanding achievements, showcasing a step forward of operating system in China.
