China Steps up International Cooperation in Information Technology

MOST issued the Implementation Outline of International S&T Cooperation in the 11th Five-Year on December 3, 2006. According to the Outline, China will center around industrial upgrading, develop information technology, new material technology, and advanced manufacturing technology through international collaboration, and enhance the innovation ability in major equipment and product manufacturing.

Pertinent to information technology, priorities of cooperation lie in high-performance CPU, high-performance computer, software, grid computing platform and service environment, advanced sensor technology, virtual reality technology, new generation highly dependable network, new generation broadband wireless telecommunication and very large scale integrated circuit (IC) design and manufacturing.

The priorities of new material technology incorporate resource-saving and green materials, IC corresponding materials, optoelectric information materials, high-performance magnetic materials, high-density information storage materials, biomedical materials, intelligent materials and structural technology, high-performance energy materials, membrane materials and structural materials, etc.

As for green and advanced manufacturing, highlights include green practice of process industry, automation and equipment manufacturing, informatization of manufacturing industry, RFID, intelligent robot, extreme and micronano manufacturing.
