Under the 863 Program, the project in developing megawatt variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) wind power generator units, has passed the acceptance check of experts panel on follow-up energy technology.

Shengyang University of Technology has designed the model 1MW doubly-fed VSCF wind power generator sets with proprietary IPR and 4 patents. China now is able to independently manufacture its main parts, such as blades and the gear box.

The model generator was set in place on July 23 2005 and interconnected to power on July 31. Till the acceptance check, the model has been operating for 2123 hours, generating power of 601 MW hours.
