Vice Minister CHENG visited the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and listened to report by Vice President ZHAN Qimin pertaining the state lab on major diseases. He also led a visit to the State Key Lab on Medical Molecular Biology.

Vice Minister CHENG recognized CAMS’ efforts in developing the state key lab. He commented that with the resources of CAMS, the lab should be built as an efficient research base to integrate resources in basic medical sciences and clinical research. The efforts were targeted on problems in public health, major diseases and harmonious society. CHENG hopes that by integrating resources and deepening institutional reform, CAMS will propose the lab construction plan as soon as possible with clarified goals and concentrated research directions.

According to President LIU Depei, CAMS set great store by state labs and would try to launch it at an early schedule. Faced with a strategic opportunity, CAMS will integrate all possible resources to build the labs for meeting national demands.
