On January 9-14, Vice Minister CAO Jinlin led a team to carry out researches and inspections in three provinces of Northeast China. The purpose of this trip was to summarize experiences of MOST in reviving old industrial bases of Northeast China in recent years, find out deficiencies in works, and learn about the scientific and technological demands of these three provinces in reviving old industrial bases during the period of "11th Five-Year Plan".

By means of debriefing, seminar and field inspection, Mr. CAO has managed to learn about the overall conditions of key enterprises, universities and research institutions in these three provinces. Problems concerned by the local governments and scientific authorities have also been well discussed with common understandings reached.
