On 27 March 2007, the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China and the Thomson Corporation of US that developed the SCI retrieval system jointly hosted a high-level academic forum on “Independent Innovation and Academic Self-discipline of S&T Periodicals” in Beijing.

The theme of this forum is “how will S&T periodicals serve and contribute to China’s independent innovation and play its role in curbing academic corruption”. Altogether 120 people attended the conference, including leaders of the Chinese S&T periodicals within the scope of SCI inclusion and representatives of academic periodicals of relevant fields.

Representatives of domestic and foreign S&T periodicals attached great importance to this high-level forum, agreeing unanimously that S&T periodicals are an important component and supporting link of S&T undertaking and technology innovation as well as an important window to demonstrate S&T progress.
