On the afternoon of 11 April, Minister XU Guanhua met with Professor Samuel C.C. DING, Noble Laureate and his party and discussed matters relating to Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS).

Professor DING briefed the Minister on the latest development of AMS and thanked MOST for its support to AMS.

Minister XU first extended warm welcome to Professor DING and indicated that he was very happy to see the AMS project had new developments and its results also began to be applied to other fields with diffusive effect. Minister XU remarked that the significance of major scientific project like AMS not only lies in the project itself but more importantly talents have been cultivated through it and its result facilitates the development of relevant fields, which is sometimes more important than the project itself.
