On 18 April, the expert consultative conference on constructing the National Platform for Bioinformation Data Sharing was held in Shanghai. ZHANG Xian’en, Director-General of the Department of Basic Research briefed the conference on the status quo of the rapid growth of bioinformation data and the progress made by the Department of Basic Research in facilitating data sharing. He indicated that his department would support the construction of data sharing platforms so as to provide strong backing for scientific research.

Academician ZHAO Guoping, head of the preparatory team for the construction of the bioinformation data-sharing platform presented the proposal on the construction of the platform. At the end of his presentation, the experts conducted a heated discussion, at which they put forward many constructive suggestions and opinions.
