From 30th November to 1st December 2007, MOST convened the Symposium on Scientific Research Management in the field of New Material Technology under the “863 Program” in Changsha.

The Symposium reported on the arrangements of National S&T Plan in the field of new material in the 11th Five-Year Plan period and the short-term deployment of projects under the “863 program”. It also elaborated the management procedures of the National S&T Plan. The Symposium also held discussions on S&T management system reform, improving management of projects under the “863 Program”, and the role of the science and research management departments.

The symposium concluded that since the implementation of the “863 Program” two years ago, remarkable results has been achieved in realizing a scientific, standard, efficient and fair management, which has strongly advanced research in universities and research institutes.
