The meeting to kick off S&T Achievements Assessment was held on October 14 in Beijing. Vice Minister CAO Jianlin addressed the event and conferred plates to the participating agencies. Chiefs and representatives from 9 pilot institutes and 12 assessment agencies attended the meeting.

CAO underlined 5 points for the pilot work:

·all the assessment agencies shall attach great importance to the pilot work under effective leadership;

·facilitate the establishment of diversified assessment methods;

·set up and guide professional assessment agencies in the society;

·actively promote classified assessment for S&T achievements; and

·explore the possibility to build new management and accountability mechanisms for the assessment.
