Minister Wan Meets with IEA DG Maria van der Hoeven

Minister Wan Gang met with Maria van der Hoeven, the new Director-General of International Energy Agency (IEA) and her delegation at MOST on November 17th, 2011.

Minister Wan briefed the guests on China's R&D and demonstration of clean energy technologies. He hoped that MOST and IEA can enhance cooperation in energy technology and IEA's policy reports can well reflect China's efforts in promoting energy saving and emission reduction through scientific and technological development. He also encouraged more Chinese research institutes and experts to participate in IEA's activities, and will consider sending officials to work with IEA on a short-term basis.

DG Maria van der Hoeven briefed the Chinese side on IEA's future strategic plan and cooperation priorities with MOST in coming years, as well as the highlights of newly issued report World Energy Outlook 2011. As MOST and IEA maintain sound exchanges, Maria van der Hoeven hoped that China can further provide relevant information and data on energy R&D and participate in more energy cooperation under the framework of IEA.
